Who doesn’t like great grilled cheese? Ms Cheezious has been creating delicious grilled cheeses for a while as a food truck and now recently, they’ve opened up a brick and mortar in the MiMo area of the city. The space is cool and has an incredible backyard area and space for great entertainment and food. If you get the chance to visit, try their amazing Caprese Melt. Warm, savory and buttery delicious!
Jimmy’z Kitchen really has a great concept and simple idea. Good food, exceptional taste and great laid-back atmosphere. My favorite dish is the Seared Ahi Tuna with jasmine rice, avocado and tomato salad. The soy ginger dipping sauce is tangy and pairs great with the dish. They also have a great choice of beers and wine. The guava cheesecake is outstanding.
An evening full of surprises is what Ted’s at YoungArts is all about. You get a unique ambiance that touches all your senses. From the brilliant video walls that surround you to the eclectic vibe that captivates you, is just the start. The menu is simple and easy to digest. I tried the Lamb Kofta with wasabi tzatzik over spaghetti squash. The portion was perfect and the presentation was appealing. Great desserts and wonderful drinks. By the way, they are located in one of my favorite architectural gems. The old Bacardi building.
My newest adventure in dining has been La Savina restaurant at the Mondrian South Beach. With it’s unique lobby with its interesting black staircase makes your experience an Alice in Wonderland trip. The La Savina restaurant is design just as amazing. From the gorgeous Eames Dowel-Leg chairs to the great Biscayne Bay views is enough to make you feel excited about dinner or breakfast. The Crudo’s on their menu are truly fresh and delicious. I recommend to try them all. The Tuna is extremely fresh and beautiful in color. It’s made with romesco and cilantro to really bring out the flavor. The dining experience and the service was excellent!
A new restaurant in the MiMo district opened up and I’m already loving it. It’s called Loba Restaurant and it’s quite the spot. I tried their Market Whole Fish from their menu (pictured here). It has sorrel, arugula, orange, fennel, micro greens, pink guava and lemon. The bits of the pink guava on the fish is pretty amazing and tasty. The other offerings are just as delicious and well prepared. The interior space is comfortable and quaint and has a unique modern design with natural elements. Swing by when you are driving down the boulevard. You might just get a craving to come back.
When it comes to food trucks you know you’re getting good comfort food. Arepas Las Gorditas food truck comes once in a while to our office and we love it. The Rumbera arepa is the one I tried. It’s sliced Gouda and Shredded Pork. A combination that was very tasty and savory. I can’t wait for the next time the truck comes by so I can try one of their 14 different arepas!.
Cholo’s Ceviche & Grill in North Miami is one of those hidden restaurants that surprises me. The food here was very good and fresh. The Ceviche Clasico is their nation’s pride and joy and I believe it. The fish was marinated in “leche de tigre“, which is lime juice and aji (a Peruvian hot pepper). Served with red onions, yams and Peruvian corn. Great service and prices to make you feel like you can come back anytime. Goes well with their Peruvian Beer!
These warm and delicious shrimp dumplings are pretty much one of my favorite so far. The savory sauce with enough spicy kick made them so extraordinary. This dish is from Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ in Brickell. Give them a try during happy hour for the best prices on the menu.
This wonderful dish was prepared with aji amarillo, papas bravas with Spanish paprika and jicama. A delicious plate that’s original and deliciously prepared. Health Porter is one of the owners of Uvaggio in Coral Gables and he really knows how to make you feel right at home. He has an extraordinary knowledge of wines and the dishes that go well with them. Great spot for a romantic and special evening.
